Pohjois-Savo Polytechnic is one of the biggest polytechnics in Eastern Finland with approximately 5000 students. The Polytechnic is a multidisciplinary Institution of higher education, which offers approximately 30 Bachelor level degree programmes in six different study fields. The other forms of operation include adult education, service activities and research and development activities. The polytechnic is run by Pohjois-Savo Municipal Federation of Professional Higher Education and it operates in three locations at Pohjois-Savo; Iisalmi, Kuopio and Varkaus.

The Polytechnic has partner institutions in approximately 30 countries all over the world.
